EDWARDIAN FARMHOUSE REVIVAL
Our client for this project had renovated with us before in 2010 and re-engaged us prior to purchasing the property – to explore and advise them on the home’s potential through our lens. The property is an 1890’s Edwardian farmhouse, with all the elegance of the era intact but in need of restoration.
There was a grandeur on approach with its charming facade, manicured garden and entry complete with leadlight windows, gables and roofline. After discussions, drawings and the approval of town planning, we set things in motion. Designing the extension and renovation, managing the build, start to finish.
Being heritage listed, the careful restoration of the original features such as the fireplaces, flooring and archways were priority. Custom joinery, feature mouldings, ensuite and walk in robe in the master, elevated the original character of the home. There was a balance achieved with old and new through the shapes and materials used. The installation of window shutters and the exposed original brickwork in the wine cellar were examples of this approach.
The extension at the rear is a visual design nod to the Edwardian gables and roofline, with the living space spilling out onto the sweeping decks, complete with outdoor kitchen, sheltered with louvres. The pool and exterior space were optimised for entertaining and quality family time.
