Functional Family EXTENSION
Our client was kindly referred to us by a previous client, when they were ready to rework their 1950’s home. The objective was to modernise and expand for their family, while adding value to their investment.
The position of the home sits high up on this Mont Albert block, with rows of stairs leading up to the entry. The exterior had previously been rendered in grey from its original cream bricks. Our second storey exterior was designed to further modernise the facade. A second storey extension with additional bedrooms and bathrooms fulfilled the brief for the family, with a large floor to ceiling window in the stairwell frames the established trees outside, allowing the natural light to filter through.
Working with the existing ground floor layout, we renovated the rooms intentionally to work harmoniously with the extension. We added in the sculptural appeal of the Ergo Focus suspended fireplace, along with generous custom built bay windows for individuality. The bold impact of the monochromatic contrasts, especially in the kitchen are a feature of the home where we expanded its functionality with a butler’s pantry. The installation of new oak timber flooring was purposely selected to incorporate warmth and balance.
